2015 - Syracuse

Marvin Druger, Professor Emeritus, Biology and Science Education, Syracuse University, donated the funds in 2014 to renovate and restore the 138-year-old Holden Observatory at Syracuse University and create the Patricia Meyers Druger Learning Center. In dealing with his grief over his wife's death from cancer in 2014, it was his wish to memorialize her at the observatory, as astronomy was one of her lifelong passions. The facility had lain dormant for over 50 years, and due to this restoration, the classic 1877 Alvan Clark telescope has been reactivated for education and public outreach.>
